The foremost graphologist of his time, Saudek, who was born in the small town of Kolin Bohemia, published in the 1920s two books, "both of which were destined to lay the foundation for a new graphology" [Roback's Psychorama, p. 195]: the 1925 Wissenschaftliche Graphologie (Psychology of Handwriting) and Experimentelle Graphologie (Experiments in Handwriting). He was also a distinguished bellelettrist, publishing in both Czech and German.

With a laid in autograph letter signed from Simon Rawidowicz to a Reb Alexander, on his printed stationary headed (without his name) 6, Stainburn Mount, // Leeds, 7." and dated 3.V.44, about 26 lines, in English and German. Rawidocicz notes that he is sending Spranger's book in the same mail. He calls Alexander's attention to the different human types to be found at p. 109 [2. Abschnitt. Die idealen Grundtypen der Individualit�t]. He writes, "Lesen Sie das langsam und aufmerksam. Ich habe das Buch �ber 20 Jahre nicht in der Hand gehabt. Ich w�rde es heute sicherlich mit andern Augen gelesen haben. Das ist ganz nat�rlich. Wenn ich etwas freie Zeit habe, m�chte ich es sogar noch einmal durchlesen." [Do read it slowly and attentively. I haven't had the book in my hands in over 20 years. I'd certainly read it now with different eyes, just as one would expect. If I have some free time, I'd certainly like to read through it once more.] A notable scholar and philosopher of Jewish history, Rawidowicz (1896-1957) was born in Grayevo, Poland (then part of czarist Russia). From 1919 he studied philosophy, history, and Semitics at the University of Berlin, receiving his doctorate in 1926 for his dissertation on Ludwig Feuerbach. In 1922 he established the Ayanot Publishing Company in Berlin to make available modern editions of classical Hebrew texts. In the late 1920s he pioneered the concept that the land of Israel was in partnership with the Jewish Diaspora, which he symbolized as an ellipse with two foci -- an idea now being taken very seriously. In 1931 he convened the Brit Ivrit Olamit (World Union for Hebrew Culture) in Berlin and served as its head, but the organization was disbanded in 1933 when the Nazis took control of Germany. Rawidowicz then took a position at the Jews' College in London, which had a program for rescuing Jewish scholars from Germany. In 1941 the British tailoring magnate Montague Burton endowed a position for Rawidowicz in medieval and modern Hebrew at the University of Leeds, where in 1946 Rawidowicz became chair of the Department of Hebrew Language and Literature. He left Leeds in 1948 for the College of Jewish Studies in Chicago, and in 1951 came to Brandeis University as the first Philip W. Lown Professor of Jewish Philosophy and first chair of the Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies a position he held until his death.
